God of War 3 PC Port Download Guide
Use the project’s release page, choose the correct program package and keep game files separate from the download.

Where to download the PC project
Start at FelipePrado0/gow3_pc Releases. Open the release entry, read its notes and expand Assets. The release reviewed for this guide is 2.3.0, published October 15, 2026. Newer downloads may change the advice below.
This is the community project’s program download. It is separate from Sony’s commercial game and is not an official PC release. A file advertised elsewhere as “the complete game plus the port” is not the package described here.
Choose the right package
| Your platform | Asset to look for | Next step |
|---|---|---|
| Windows | gow3-windows.zip |
Extract the ZIP, then follow Windows installation |
| Linux / Steam Deck | gow3-x86_64.AppImage |
Check the runtime requirements in the Linux and Deck guide |
| Verifying a download | The matching .sha256 asset |
Compare it with the file you downloaded |
| Developing the project | Source archives or the repository | Use upstream build instructions; these are not the Windows launcher ZIP |
Do not pick a package simply because it is the first item in the asset list. Match both the operating system and the filename. A .sha256 file contains a checksum; it is not the application.
If GitHub displays a newer release, use that release’s own asset list. Avoid mixing an older executable with arbitrary files from a newer archive.
What the download includes
The program package does not contain the commercial game. You must supply compatible PS4 Remastered files. A PS3 copy, an RPCS3 installation or a folder containing only a game shortcut cannot substitute for the required files.
Before spending time extracting or configuring anything, check the PC and game-build requirements. That page owns compatibility details; this page covers package selection and updates.
Verify a Windows ZIP
Open PowerShell in the download folder and run:
Get-FileHash .\gow3-windows.zip -Algorithm SHA256
Compare the entire returned hash with the value in the matching release’s .sha256 asset. A match helps establish that your local file is the same as the published asset. It does not certify the software’s behavior or the authenticity of a file obtained from an unrelated source.
For Linux, use sha256sum gow3-x86_64.AppImage and compare the corresponding release value.
Update without losing your progress
The current Windows documentation describes an updater under Advanced → Check for updates. Linux users obtain a newer AppImage from Releases. In either case, close the game before updating and preserve your data first.
Back up saves and settings
| Environment | Documented data location | What to preserve |
|---|---|---|
| Windows, default setup | user next to God of War III.exe |
The complete data folder, not just one visible slot |
| Windows, custom Saves folder | The folder selected in the launcher | Check the selected path before replacing an installation |
| Linux | ~/.local/share/gow3 |
Save data, settings and related runtime files |
| Linux launcher preferences | ~/.config/gow3-launcher |
Launcher configuration |
Make a separate copy, label it with the date and project version, and retain it until you have loaded your existing progress after the update. A backup inside a folder you are about to replace is easy to remove accidentally.
For shadPS4 migration, use the project’s save-import instructions. RPCS3 saves are from the PS3 game and are not interchangeable. We have not independently tested save migration.
After downloading
On Windows, continue to the installation guide. On Steam Deck or Linux, follow the AppImage setup. If an existing installation stops working after an update, keep its log and compare the symptom in startup troubleshooting before changing several settings at once.
